Congratulations on getting engaged! Already having some thoughts about planning?
Here are some things I think you should know before you should dive in:
Set a budget
Setting a budget is very important to not only you and your significant other, but to your soon to be wedding planner, your future vendors and even the parents of both parties involved. Whatever you financial situation may be, capping your budget at a specific place will help you now and later. Your future self will thank you!
You’re in this together
Sometimes in all of the chaos of wedding planning, Pinterest, thoughts from friends, family and social media can get in the way of what you and your partner would like for your special day. Don’t worry about what others will say or think. Your wedding day is something you both will remember for the rest of your lives, so make sure it is purely you and your partners wants!
Let it go
Your wedding day is something everyone dreams about. Whether that dream is a small gathering with close friends and family, or a giant event with hundreds of people, many individuals will have everything already mapped out and planned in their head of exactly what they want. If you don’t get every single thing you would have wanted for your special day, who cares? This day is specifically about you and your partner finally coming together and getting married. Just breathe and think about how happy you will be walking down that isle!
Hire a wedding planner
Trying to plan your special day all on your own is a massive task! Hire a wedding planner to help take the reins so your special day is 100% taken care of and not something to keep you up at night!
Traditions aren’t mandatory
There are many traditions that are a staple at any wedding now a days, but traditions are not mandatory! If you wanted a different color wedding dress, or even a ceremony in the middle of a field, your special day is completely up to you and your partner of what you both want.
Unplugged ceremony
What would be worse than hearing a phone ring in the middle of your ceremony? Honestly, not much else. Having your guests unplugged for your ceremony helps in many ways. It will help your photographer snap that perfect moment when you say “I do”, it will also bring your guests attention to you and your partner, arguably the number one reason for coming in the first place.
Hire a videographer
A photographer is a given with most weddings, but what most couples do not think about is 10 or 15 years down the line, specifics of certain memories get a little hazy. Hiring a videographer to capture your special day will not only help for people who weren’t able to make it, but your future self will definitely thank you to be able to watch that amazing day over and over again for years to come.
DIY
Pinterest can definitely create huge expectations when it comes to planning for your wedding day, but it can also help cut costs by DIYing anything you could possibly think of. From table numbers, to name tags, and everything in between, Pinterest will be your friend throughout your process of DIY.
Groomsmen and bridesmaids
Something most people do not think about is setting aside a part of your budget to go towards your groomsmen and bridesmaids. Booking hotel rooms, how to ask them, dresses, tuxes, and much more. Being able to help your groomsmen and bridesmaids with what they will need for your wedding day will be less of a headache later on. No one wants to be receiving text messages and phone calls only weeks before your special day about the specific color they should be looking for.
Opening a credit card that gives you rewards back
Everyone loves receiving rewards! You and your partner should think about opening a card specifically for wedding purchases so you can receive rewards to use specifically for your special day or even towards the honeymoon.
Giving all vendors the wedding planners contact
This tip is the most helpful so you and your partner can relax and enjoy your special day. Giving your wedding planners contact info to all your vendors will help take the stress off of your shoulders!
With these tips, you can plan your wedding with your partner with ease!
