Choosing a place to have your Stowe Vermont Elopement can be so difficult because there are so many places and beautiful nature backdrops to choose from. This winter elopement at Green Mountain Inn was one of my favorites to date. In fact, It was featured in the New york times in this article here. It was the perfect snowy day + both brides and I danced our way through the village of Stowe Vermont.
The Green Mountain Inn has beautiful rooms for your Stowe Vermont Elopement! All in all, they are beautifully vintage rooms. In fact, they even have hot tub jacuzzis right inside each room! (Say whaaat?) Yep, and it feels just as amazing as it sounds after a long day outside in the cold! Imagine
The great thing about eloping at Green Mountain Inn Lodge is that they surprisingly have all inclusive packages for their mini weddings (microweddings) and elopement ceremonies held on site. So, If you book a package at Stowe Vermont, they include:
You can visit more about their packages here.
And of course, you can hire me to document it all! (another shameless plug. who am I?! Sorry – Okay moving on).
After their ceremony was complete, our bellies were full with cake + we were ready to go out on the town. We walked right out of the Inn and took some portraits across the street at the famous Stowe Covered Bridge. Before continuing, it is important you know all of the wedding photos we took that are shown in this blog were within a 15 min driving distance from the Green Mountain Inn Lodge, from their elopement. So getting great photos for your elopement is totally possible! You just need to make sure your hire someone who knows where the best locations are! I location scout for all my elopement clients, to ensure my couples are happy on their day. So we are never surprised on the day of the elopement.
For Anais + Emily’s elopement, we went to two covered bridges! One was inside the village and the other was slightly outside the town of Stowe. We also went to a farm with a beautiful red barn + along the path to the waterfall we hiked!
After the ceremony for this couple’s Stowe Vermont Elopement, Anais + Emily decided they wanted epic bridal portraits to showcase the beauty in the state that they had chosen to elope in. By getting to know both brides, I can say with confidence that Winter is their favorite season for a multitude of reasons, but they absolutely love the snowy landscape. (Especially when they are skiing the slopes of both NH and Vermont!) These two are ski bums to the max- which if you’re not from New England is a pretty great compliment to get. We had the pleasure of snowboarding with them at Stowe the day before their elopement to spend time and hangout with them!
We place a super high importance on getting to know our couples. Sometimes it is just me (Lexi) and other times it’s my husband Arthur and I with our couples we are photographing. In this scenario, being able to hang out with Anais and Emily a day before their Stowe Vermont Elopement was pure excitement for the both of us. If you only want a photographer who’s going to be excited to get to know you + place value on documenting the two of you, I may just know the gal for you. (hehe, okay had to throw that in there).
For this hike down to the waterfall, we hiked about 1/4 mile into the snowy forest and we were able to get bridal portraits that were awe-inspiring + stunning. A lot of people are afraid of eloping in the winter time due to the cold, but if you’re prepared, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about + your portraits could end up being better than you dreamed of! I mean, this couple got to say their wedding photos were in the mini vows section of the New York times. How many people can say that?!
Another great idea if you don’t want to go book a lodge or an Inn is to have an airbnb elopement. I have an entire blog post written about how to do that and what to look for in your ideal adventurous intimate elopement airbnb. View that blog post about having an airbnb elopement here!
Dressing for a winter elopement can be tricky! Though, there are some easy ways to make sure you stay warm + comfortable. The first thing I’d recommend is being comfortable in your shoe attire! If you are going out in the snow, I wouldn’t recommend heels for this! If you’re eloping in the winter, try to incorporate winter aspects like snow boots! Also, if you don’t to be freezing under your dress, try to wear some long underwear (or fleece lined tights!) For men, you could try a wool jacket to cover your suit coat for a nice look. In addition, don’t be afraid to pair some of you photos wearing hats and gloves!
There are so many important aspects to choosing the right photographer for your Vermont Elopement. If you think about it, your photographer is the only person that’s really with you for the entirety of your day. It’s important that you feel comfortable with this person! In addition, you want to be able to feel vulnerable so your photographer can capture you in the best light. As mentioned above for this Stowe Vermont Elopement, we were able to go snowboarding with our couple the day before!
As mentioned a few times above, I prioritize getting to know my couples and doing whatever it takes to make you comfortable in front of the camera. In fact, I’m an empath, so it’s that much easier for me to feel your emotions and document them as you experience them. I would love to have the chance to photograph your wedding day, big or small. All that matters to me is you walk away from your elopement, with the best memories and photos of your day!
