When it’s so hard to choose what to do for your elopement day, consider a snowboard elopement! It’s the perfect way to incorporate a favorite, fun experience with a meaningful new journey. Chris + Amber planned a beautiful, intimate VT winter elopement where they exchanged vows in a snowy meadow they snowboarded to from their cozy Airbnb. This private elopement was beautiful and unique! Keep reading to see how they came to the decision and the details that made this elopement so special!
Finding your perfect wedding location and creating your ideal wedding experience is at the forefront of all engaged couples. There are so many choices to make, and options to choose from – it can feel overwhelming! I always suggest that couples take some time before making decisions to consider what is most important to them. The best advice I received, and passed along, is to choose three big things you want to remember about your day: is it the location? the flowers? the food or drink? an experience like snowboarding, skiing, or hiking? the music? an elopement or a big wedding? Choose three big things to focus on, then the rest will fill in and fall into place. For Amber and Chris, It was just about creating memories together in a unique way.
Working with Amber + Chris, their big three elopement priorities were: intimacy (just the two of them), incorporating snowboarding during their elopement, and fun (personal touches that were enjoyable for the couple to plan, and experience, and would bring smiles to their faces to remember).
After deciding on and planning an intimate snowboarding elopement, Amber + Chris finally arrived for their special day. Snow fell softly in the mountains, adding to the already sparkling winter wonderland where Amber + Chris chose to elope. The pair got ready together in their treehouse Airbnb. Stopping to enjoy a cup of coffee and some snuggles, and pausing to enjoy the moment. You can find the exact Airbnb that they stayed in here!
The Airbnb had so many unique touches and provided the best space to get ready for their elopement. It had an amazing view of the snow covered green mountains, a cozy wood stove to keep the space heated + it was in a secluded area tucked up into this quaint dirt road in the mountains.
Earthy tones in the invitations connected the day to their surroundings. Small details hinting at the outdoors – trees, mountains, and snowboards, celebrated and announced Chris + Amber’s elopement. Along with their elopement announcements, I loved the detailed work in the small snowboard tags carved with their names, and the wooden ring box carved with mountains reflected in ski goggles. It was both understanded + insanely personal to the couple.
Amber wore a simple, but stunning long white gown, with an open back, jeweled details lined her spine. She kept the outfit minimal – the focus was on the experience and comfort. She wore snowboarding boots, and a black and white jacket along with a white helmet instead of a veil! Chris leaned into the earthy tones, with a terracotta suit, matching hat, mittens and snowboarding boots. He complimented his bride, and both focused on the beauty of their surroundings.
The uniqueness of the day took my breath away. During some of the shots at the Airbnb ahead of hitting the slopes, Amber showed off not only her stunning boho bouquet but also her snowboard decked out in matching flowers. She definitely gave off Elsa vibes, with her dress swirling and twirling in the snow-covered hills.
The couple took cozy pictures together surrounded by the snow-covered trees before hiking and clipping into their boards to snowboard to their private elopement location.
Simplicity reigned allowing the focus to be on the couple, their love, and the beautiful surroundings. After riding up the mountain Chris took a knee to help Amber clip into her board. Together we snowboarded down to a private alcove. The floral snowboard, and her bouquet the only additions to the snowy meadow. They exchanged vows together as quietly as the falling snow.
After a few celebratory runs, the couple hiked back up to their Airbnb, shining like a beacon in the night, to salute their love with their favorite beers from Massachusetts and Vermont Chris is drinking Cloud Candy by Mighty Squirrel and Amber is sipping Ski the East IPA by Long Trail.
In conclusion, Amber + Chris had a beautiful day to get married, surrounded by mountains and in their cozy Airbnb, the unique experience of snowboarding, and their stunning colorful flowers. The day was subtle and focused on the intimacy of their relationship, and their exciting new roles as husband and wife.
