So you’ve decided that you’re going to go on an adventure elopement! (seriously one of the best decisions ever If I may add). It can be daunting to know where to start with packing for such a big adventure. Though, don’t worry! I’ve got you covered! Depending on the type of adventure you go on, you will be packing differently so please be advised this is not necessarily the best packing list for any adventure out there.
If you’re elopement involves hiking, you’ll want to make sure you’ve packed all the necessities and items to keep you safe + of course, to make sure you have a great experience! For a list of gear specifically for hiking elopements, here is my packing list for adventure brides here!
The weather
Make sure you are constantly checking the weather on the day of your elopement (I feel like I don’t need to tell you this, since most people obsessively look anyways, but being prepared in case of rain, extreme hot weather or extreme cold is always a plus). You’ll want to know what your destination normally calls for at that time of year in terms of weather and what the “normal” is. Then you can base your packing off of that until the week of. If you are flying to your destination, it’s better to be prepared than to not be. For example, in the pacific northwest, you can almost always plan for rain, so at least you’ll know how to pack! I’m an over packer, so I would recommend packing more ( for example- cold weather gear and rain gear). If you aren’t too keen on packing all of that in your suitcase, you can always buy the gear when you get there. The only thing about doing this is you want to make sure it’s quality gear and going to protect you from the elements.
What time of year is it? Do you need any other seasonal items?
Do you need gloves, hats, mittens? Or is it extreme hot weather where you’ll want a personal battery powered fan around your neck? Just make sure you do your research for your specific location on what to expect as mentioned above!
What activities you’re doing throughout the day
This seems obvious, but just remember if you need anything extra for the activities you’re doing. For example, are we doing a stargazing elopement? Make sure not to forget a headlamp/ lanterns for light source for both the photos (and for you). Maybe you’re doing a snowshoeing elopement- just don’t forget the snowshoes after being so prepared for the attire you’re going to bring! Most adventure elopements have recently turned into hiking, but it doesn’t have to just be hiking! You can do anything on your elopement day.
polaroid camera
water bottle
first aid kit
bobby pins, mirror, lipstick, tissues, deodorant, hair tie, chapstick
